An Overview of our Junior Programme
Junior Cricket at The Wimbledon Cricket Club
Our Junior cricket programme has a in excess of 800 junior members. We are committed to offering a best in class training programme to children of all backgrounds, are passionate ambassadors for inclusion, diversity and equal opportunity within the game and all training sessions are delivered by our professionally qualified coaching team.
Under the watchful eye of Jonathan Speller, our Cricket Director, both our boys and girls members are offered a 15 week summer training programme that has been designed to cover all aspects of a young cricketers learning journey. The programme caters for children of all attainment levels and has affordances to challenge our top achievers and the necessary support measures to help players who may be newer to the game.
Alongside the training programme our junior age groups are entered into the Surrey Junior Cricket Championship where, when selected, they will have the opportunity to represent Wimbledon Cricket Club in inter club league fixtures and knockout cup games.

Our junior members are offered a pre-season training opportunity after the February half-term break where they will be offered an Age Group training session with our coaching team to allow the players to tune up for the start of the season, as well as allow our coaches to update their player trackers with any new skills the juniors have mastered during the winter period. All junior members' progress and attainment levels are recorded and updated during the season. Our Lead coaches use this information when creating squads and during their selection for league matches during the season.

Jonathan and his team are passionate about closing attainment gaps and speeding up progress while allowing all children an equal opportunity to progress through the WCC programme.
